I install only the following shields: Web Shield, File Shield, Network Shield, Behavior Shield and Script Shield (not sure if the last 3 are really needed) and all other 'extras' are UNchecked. If you go with Avast Free, make sure to do a CUSTOM install-and also read each install screen carefully as Avast likes to give you what they think are 'goodies' but are sucky.
